Frequently Asked Questions

If you're new to pageants, I understand that you might be feeling a bit nervous about what to expect. But don't worry, we are here to help! We have created a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) that will answer any questions you may have. So feel free to take a look and get all the information you need! If you have any other questions, you can submit them here.

Can anyone participate?

Absolutely! Smile & Shine Pageantry warmly welcomes both girls and boys, as well as individuals who identify as LGBTQ2+, and participants of all ages! (Applications of those 22+ will complete a screening process) We wholeheartedly encourage all participants to embrace their true selves and join us just the way they are!

How does it work?

On stage, you'll get to showcase your amazing personality and true self in three different categories. It's your chance to shine and impress our judges. So, get ready to let your inner star shine bright and show the world what you're made of!

Will this boost my child's self-esteem?

Definitely! Taking part in a natural pageant is a fantastic way for children to boost their self-esteem, overcome shyness, and grow as a strong individual.

What does my child need to participate?

The participant will simply need an outfit for each category (Formal Wear, Casual Wear, & Theme Wear) and their SMILE!

What will the pageant day look like?

Participants will register upon arriving. They should come ready for their first category, after they are finished on stage they will go get changed for the next category. After our main categories, we will have the talent portion for those who have signed up. There will then be a break for our judges to do final tallying and we will welcome our participants back for crowning.

Do participants speak on stage?

Participants aged 4+ years will give a brief personal introduction before they do their formal wear walk on stage. This should include their name, age, something they like to do, and/or a fun fact about them. Participants 4+ years will also be asked an age-appropriate question before their casual wear walk. (A list of questions will be provided prior to pageant day to practice)

What will participants receive?

Every single participant will receive a crown and an age appropriate gift! There will be one overall royalty in each age category that will receive a crown, sash, and gift.

Everyone will also receive a fun-filled day of memories and new friendships!

How are the participants judged?

The judges will evaluate participants personality, confidence, and individualality, including interviewing/communication skills.

My child is shy, will participating help them?

We've seen so many amazing things happen for kids who participate in natural pageants! It's truly heartwarming to witness how their time on stage helps them overcome their shyness. These pageants provide them with a wonderful opportunity to shine and learn how to gradually reduce their shyness.
